Jack Klippel is a retired physician, medical researcher, editor, and non-profit executive and a long-standing collector of folk art, particularly decoys. Despite no formal training in the arts and questionable talent, he continues to be amazed as to what can be created with a little imagination, a band saw, carving, lots of sanding, and paint. His work is influenced by an interest in Southern culture, architecture, and wildlife and has included bird homes, bookshelf models, and carvings of wildlife from the mountains and coast of North Carolina. In addition to displaying his work at shows on Bald Head Island, he is proud to have his work at American Folk Art in his home in Asheville NC (https://www.amerifolk.com/artists/jack-klippel/).
