Janet S. Triplett

Jan returned to oil painting in 2001 after a long career in commercial interior design, followed by a second career in decorative and faux finishes.  She has studied with several nationally recognized artists including Timothy C. Tyler, Gay Faulkenberry, James Sulkowski, M.Kathryn Massey and Sam Vokey.

Still lifes and dog portraits are currently Jan's primary areas of painting.  She enjoys the challenge of arranging beautiful objects into pleasing compositions and paints her still lifes  exclusively from life. Her work is traditionally representational and she strives to evoke a timeless elegance in her paintings.  Jan's dog portraits are commissions  painted from photographs. She endeavors to portray each pet's personality, capturing it's spirit through the eyes, thereby creating a true to life portrait.

As well as being a member of the Smith Island Art League, Jan is a member of the Bascom Louise Art Association in Highlands, NC, Creative Wilmington, NC, and an Associate Member of Oil Painters of America.  She lives and maintains studios on Bald Head Island and in Glenville, NC and is represented by John Collette Fine Art in Highlands, NC and by Summer Gallery in Sandwich, MA on Cape Cod.
