Ann Cary Hevener Oil Paintings and Watercolors

Ann Cary (A. C.) Hevener enjoys painting outside and primarily works in oil and watercolor. She lives happily amidst her favorite subject matter at Bald Head Island. Hevener was a political cartoonist and a software product manager before turning to painting full time. Her undergraduate degree is from Wellesley College with a triple major in studio art, English, and political science. She has a Masters Degree from Boston University and matriculated in the Smithsonian Institution’s Masters Program in Decorative Arts. Her work has appeared in group shows at the Peabody Essex Museum in Massachusetts and at the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition in Charleston, South Carolina. She has had solo shows at the Nature Gallery of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences and at the Fort Fisher Aquarium as well as shows in Asheville, North Carolina. She was awarded the commission for the North Carolina Wildlife Federation’s Print of the Year (chosen as part of the Natural Treasures Art Series). She loves her island home and has enjoyed being an active member of the Smith Island Art League for more than a decade.
